Tired of the usual Valentines Day gift ideas – roses, lingerie and stuffed toys? Looking for something likewise unique, something that you haven’t given before? We have put together a few unique Valentines Day gift ideas for you.

- Cooking Classes. If you and your partner are interested in cooking, taking a class together is a great Valentines Day gift. Are you interested in a particular type of cuisine? Take an cooking introduction to that particular cuisine.

- Go To The Theater. Going to the theater is another great experience for both of you. You don’t have to go ON Valentines Day – rather, buy tickets for a convenient night, and enjoy the theater.

- Go On a Trip. Have you always wanted to go to a particular place? There is no time like the present! While Paris is the most romantic spot in the world, a tropical getaway or a vacation to your favorite spot can be a great romantic gift.

Make sure that you vacation in a spot that both of you would like – if your partner hates cities, taking them on a romantic trip to Boston might not be the inimitable idea.

- Go Out For Dinner. While a romantic dinner for a romantic holiday sounds very cliche, you can always take the cliche out of it. Be creative – did you go out for pizza on your first date? Does your parner love mushroom soup at a particular tiny restaurant in your city? Make it a point to go out for dinner to the place that is special to your parner for some reason. They will really appreciate it.

Remember – it is all about the person you are with, so consult with their tastes, look at what they like to do, and create a unique gift or experience, that they will remember forever.

Welcome To Michigan

Welcome to Northern Michigan, the home of the beautiful Grand Traverse Bay. We have an abundance of natural beauty in our area. Traverse City is known for its cherry and apple farming, locally produced vintage wines, clean white sandy beaches, and a culturally active community.
The summer is the reason why I live here. The water is clean and pure, you can see sandy bottom as far as you can walk. To me the beach is my safe place in my heart and in my soul. When I need to escape the pressures of everyday life I go to the beach to listen to the waves gently caressing the waters edge. I love to see the diamonds on the water sparkling with glory as the starts to set for the evening.

My herb garden is my safe place also. I can stroll though the garden path and fill my senses with the textures, and feel the harmony of herbs and flowers with mother earth. My garden is a working garden. I sell cut herbs and flowers for summer bouquets. I harvest the flowers to dry for my wreaths and arrangements. I am surrounded with a wealth of products in my garden.
I make medicinal salves and oils from the calendula flower which is known for its anti-viral properties, and can soothe a burn within seconds. This year I am going to produce tinctures from comfrey and our natural wild herb mullein for their powerful medicinal properties. I sell essential oils and fragrance oils as well. With these oils I make hand dipped incense sticks and my potpourri. I have developed thirteen blends or my own. After a lot of researching I have developed a recipe using carrier oils such as sweet almond oil, safflower, apricot, etc. for my body oils. The herbal blend soaks into your skin leaving no residue.
The garden brings many aspects of the earth together. The birds find food and ample hiding places to build their babys nests. The butterflies are abundant, feeding on the nectar of the flowering
plants. I am always grabbing my books to look up the name of a new winged visitor to the garden. I think my favorite part of the garden is the thyme bed. A lot of the thymes are ground covers, and in the spring they have the tiniest blossoms. Did you know about the lavender, lemon, caraway, minus, creeping, oregano, English, French, silver, common, lime, orange, orange spice, nutmeg, silver needle, and woolly thyme ? These are only a few varieties of this species. I harvest these for making herbal swags and to add them to sachets and potpourri. I am a member of the Michigan Herb Association, and the Great Lakes Herb Business Association. If you visit the web site of the Great Lakes Herb Business Association you will see a variety of businesses in our state that sells herbs and herbal products. The web site is very informative and a good resource to check out while your coming our way. Sweet Annies Rose is the name of my little rustic shop and garden. You will find as many weeds as there are herbs at times, but no one seems to care. Drop by and stroll though the garden. You can nibble on some sweet cicely, or taste the lemon thyme. You can pull a few weeds, exchange a few seeds, or just wander alone through the herbs and let their magic find a place in your heart.

Wedding Flower Checklist

Filed under: Flowers — Administrator @ 5:18 am

Abstract: Wedding Flower

You think you’ve thought of everything, but it’s always better
to be safe than sorry. Weddings, although they’re meant to be
joyous, can often be very stressful. Here’s some advice: make
checklists. Although it may seem a tad ‘corny,’ a wedding
checklist can provide you with peace of mind. You won’t have to
wonder if everything’s been taken care of. You’ll be able to use
each checklist as a confirmation.

One of the most important wedding planning checklists is a >Wedding Flower checklist. Consider your bouquets. Make sure
you have the following bouquets: Brides bouquet, bride’s
toss-away bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, Maid of Honor’s
bouquet, and the flower girl’s bouquet or floral basket. While
this may sound like a lot to consider AND arrange, we’ve only
just begun!

Corsages are required for the bride’s mother, the groom’s
mother, and the grandmothers of both the bride and groom. Well
the ladies are taken care of, but what about the men? Do all the
gentlemen have a boutonniere? It’s tradition for the groom, the
groom’s optimum man, the ushers, ring bearer, the fathers (of the
bride and groom), and both grandfathers to wear floral
boutonniere’s to the wedding ceremony. Typically, the colors of
these flowers coincide with the corsages worn by the ladies.

Finally, everyone in your immediate family and wedding party
should have some sort of floral arrangement. Once you’ve
confirmed that with your checklist, you can begin planning and
confirming your floral decorations and centerpieces for the
wedding.

Start at the beginning: the rehearsal dinner. You’ll most likely
want a floral centerpiece for the table. If it’s an extended
table with many family members, you may want to consider two
centerpieces. Presentation is everything. Next, you’ll want to
make sure that you have all of the flowers for your wedding
reception. Some things to consider are: the head table
centerpiece, gift table centerpiece, buffet table centerpiece,
and bar centerpiece.

You may also want to place a floral arrangement on the table
that informs guests of their seating arrangements. In addition,
some floral ideas such as aisle runners and floral headpieces
can be considered. Believe it or not, many couples give ‘thank
you’ floral arrangements to their parents and out-of-town
guests. It’s become a very modern tradition that has been
embraced by many young couples. Most importantly, don’t forget
to write down the number of centerpieces you will need to make a
gorgeous impression.

Wedding Flowers

In today’s world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed.

Flowers are the most common and most beautiful of wedding decorations. Make an effort to choose flowers that fit your taste and style for the wedding. They will show up at the ceremony, reception, and in photos for years to come. Most couples choose to use a florist to arrange bouquets and decorations.

You can help your florist plan your arrangements if you bring pictures or fabric swabs of gowns and colors used in the wedding. Also try to bring along a layout of the church and reception facility.

If your floral designer is unable to be present for the ceremony, ask for specific instructions for handling the flowers. You may want to assign specific people (a bridesmaid or family member) to handle floral items.

Be careful when designing a bouquet that it is not too large, which would obscure the details of your dress. Flowers should compliment, never upstage your look. Keep in mind the proportion of your body when selecting the size of your bouquet.

If your wedding flowers facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don’t let important wedding flowers information slip by you.

In terms of floral color, pick something that offers a contrast to your gown. Floral arrangements that closely match the gown may get lost in photographs. When planning the color of the flowers at the altar, keep in mind that dark colors tend to lose visual impact in photos. Lighter colors will stand out better.

Ask the florist to separate the men’s lapel buds and the flowers for the mothers, grandparents, brides, and attendants. This keeps people from running in and out of the bride’s dressing room to get flowers.

When working with your florist, do not hesitate to be specific about what you like and what you want. If you want something lush and lavish, DO IT. You should expect a spectacular bouquet just for you on your special day.

Have your florist arrange two bridal bouquets, one for the ceremony and one to be thrown at the reception. This will allow you to preserve a bouquet that was designed especially for you.

Finally, begin searching for a florist at least 3 months in advance of your wedding date. Ask for references and check them closely. Check their shop to get a feel for the designer’s style and taste.

When word gets around about your command of wedding flowers facts, others who need to know about wedding flowers will start to actively seek you out.
